The Research Space : National Journal of Arts and Humanities is a national, blind peer-reviewed, multilingual and biannual journal published by the Department of English, Nalbari Commerce College, Nalbari, Assam. The Journal focuses on the theoretical and pragmatic research in the Arts and Humanities disciplines. The journal publishes original research, creative work, and critical discourse on traditional, contemporary, and popular issues in the fields of arts and humanities studies. The journal welcomes research papers in the form of conceptual or theoretical approaches, case studies or essays in the categories of arts and humanities. The areas of the journal include the fields of philosophy, religion, foreign languages, history, language arts (like literature, writing, oratory, rhetoric, poetry etc.), performing arts (theatre, music, dance etc.) and visual arts (painting, sculpture, photography, filmmaking etc.). The objectives of the journal are to develop a network of research community at national level through publications, to provide a recognized platform for academic collaborations in a national community of researchers, to provide a platform for research and knowledge sharing between academic researchers and other stakeholders, and to develop a spirit of theoretical and pragmatic research in the Arts and Humanities disciplines.

  •    All English papers should be typed in MS Word using Times New Roman, font size 12, line spacing 1.5 and margin of 1 inch each side.
  •    For Assamese articles, author must use Geetanjali Light, font size 14, line spacing auto andmargin of 1 inch each side.
  •    For Hindi and Bodo articles, author must use font size 14, line spacing auto and margin of 1 inch each side.
  •    The number of words in the research papers should not cross 3000. Papers must include an abstract in not more than 250 words and with 5-6 keywords.
  •    All papers should be submitted only by email to: rsnationaljournal@gmail.com
  •    Authors should submit manuscripts at least three months prior to the publication of an issue of the journal for the convenience of smooth processing.
  •    Two issues of the journal are published in a year in February and August respectively.
  •    The editorial bord reserves the right to take the final decision regarding accepting or rejecting a paper or making changes in it.
  •    In case a paper is rejected, it will not be returned to the author.
  •    Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy of the facts and figures included in the paper and also for the opinion expressed in the paper.
  •    The research paper must be accompanied by a Self-Declaration (Annexure-I) duly signed by the author(s) in the format given below.
Self-Declaration (Annexure - I)

         This is to certify that the manuscript titled ………………………………………… is an original and unpublished work and I/we have not submitted this for publication in other journals, books etc. Further, it will not be submitted for publication elsewhere

All manuscripts submitted for publication are peer reviewed and for this each paper goes through the following stages:

  • 1.   On receiving a manuscript, the Editorial Board read the manuscript and determines if it fulfils the requirements for publication in the journal.
  • 2.   If the manuscript is accepted by the Editorial Board, then it is sent to one of the empanelled reviewers without the name of the author(s).
  • 3.   The reviewer fills out a Referee Report Form and then send the manuscript back to the Editorial Board.
  • 4.   If the manuscript is sent to Editorial Board by the reviewer recommending for publication without any correction, then the Editorial Board decides whether the paper can be published or not depending on the number of papers received for that particular issue of the journal. But, if a manuscript is sent back by the reviewer with recommendations for corrections or alterations etc. before publication of the paper, then a report is prepared by the Editorial Board and sent to the author for necessary work on the manuscript within a given timeline. If a manuscript is sent back by reviewer with recommendations of major correction or total rejection, then also the authors are reported immediately.
  • 5.   On receiving the corrected manuscripts from the authors within the given time, the Editorial Board examines whether the reviewer’s recommendations were followed by the author or not.
  • 6.   On completion of this process, the Editorial Board decides whether the paper can be approved for publication or not depending on the number of papers received for a particular issue.
  • 7.   All dates of the peer review process are recorded and if the paper is published, dates of submission and acceptance of the paper after peer review are mentioned in the first page of the paper.
  • 8.   Authors can expect to get their manuscripts published within no more than 6 months after submitting subject to acceptance of the manuscripts.

The Editorial Board wants to ensure that only original, unpublished and good quality research papers are published in this journal. Therefore, the Editorial Board is strictly following the guidelines proposed by  CoPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and for this the authors who want to submit manuscripts for publication consideration must adhere to the following points.

  •    Content of the manuscripts must be original.
  •    Plagiarism must not be more than 10% in the content.
  •    The content must not be published elsewhere or submitted elsewhere for publication.
  •    The content must be free from any type of spelling and grammatical errors.
  •    The authors should conduct research in an ethical and responsible manner and should comply with all relevant legislations.
  •    Authors should present their results with honesty and clarity without fabrication, falsification or inappropriate data manipulation.
  •    Authors must describe their methods of research clearly so that their findings can be confirmed by others.
  •    The content must be accurate, consistent, complete and without bias.
  •    The content in the manuscript must not be misleading, hateful, crime inspiring, pornographic, insulting, offensive, disrespectful, hostile, and bad-mannered in any sense.
  •    Acknowledgement must be made to the original content of their data, designs, methods, ideas are mentioned in the content.
  •    Relevant copyright laws must be followed.
